"Very good for the money" 2010-02-05
By Brian D. Lumpkin (Pittsburgh, PA)
Bought this awhile ago, and have had absolutely no problems with it at all. The sound is great and the amount of inputs are ample. The only problem I had with it is the rear speaker wires are a little shorter than I needed. I simply added some wire to them and it is perfect. Would be even better if the option to make them wireless was available. Good system for the price.

 "Philips Home Theater System" 2010-01-25
By MercyMe312 (Ohio)
Some of you had good things to say about this HTS, well you are of the lucky few. I have had 2. The first one was replaced 5 months after I got it because it would not power on or off with remote. I thought I just had a bad remote but they (Philips) told me it was the unit. So they replaced the whole thing which I thought was great of them at the time. The day I hooked up the replacement unit they sent me I had to call them. It was making this kind of clicking/ringing noise. They told me it was just the motor and was normal and as long as I had the sound up I didn't hear it. But this noise just kept getting louder and the longer it was turned on the louder it got. This noise was coming from the unit itself, not through the speakers. I called them back but they will do nothing. Said my warranty is up. This unit is barely 6 months old. I can now see why they only give you a 90 day warranty. After that the thing craps out. I will never, ever buy another product made by Philips and I advise all to look elsewhere when looking for a good home theater system because you wont find it with Philips. Granted the price was decent but who want to spend a $150. every few months on a home theater system?

 "pretty awsome" 2010-01-07
By Seth (Dagsboro, DE)
I purchased this unit for $139 for a refurbished model. When it arrived i opened the box there was barely no way of telling it was a refurbushed unit. everything was nice and clean. came with standard rca cable, remote, and all necessary wires to hook it up. The bass sounds excellent for the price of the system. i'm 15 and this system was in the perfect price range for my room. i have my 32" philips tv hooked up to it as well as my computer. It works excellent. it plays cd's fine, i havent used it to play dvds yet bc i already have a blu-ray player. Ipod dock is very handy. more than enough sound for my 12 by 12 room. When i played music with the volume all the way up for 20 minutes it made a bad burning smell. i turned it back down and it was ok. Doesnt seem to be doing it anymore when i turn it up though. perhaps it was just a break in thing.

 "dont buy this" 2009-12-27
By R. Boyd (challenge, ca United States)
i have never in my life bought anything i hated more than this pile of junk

i havnt decided weather its complicated or just crap

im leaning towards just crap, it doesnt play half my dvd's

gives me a stupid " no disc " message

when i load some of my dvd's , it asks me for a password ,

its a damn dvd movie, why do i have to break out a 172 page manual, writen in three

differant languages , to figure out how to make a $10. dvd play?

if thats not bad enough when you have the volume loud enough to hear what

people are saying you better have your finger on the volume button

because when it gets to an action scene it will blow your windows out.

as much as i hate to do it , im going to a buy a $35 dollar

dvd player, no doubt made in china , that all i have to do is plug in the stupid

disk and push play,

this pile of junk isnt worth the agrivation,

if you still absolutely have to have one of these let me know, il pay you to haul it off.

i bought one from walmart, and the quality of sound was awful. I ended up throwing the unit away and keeping the speakers as junk. Its pure trash.
