"Great Sound vs Remote Issues" 2010-01-25
By Green St Girlz (Cambridge MA)
Primary reasons for selecting this BA soundbar: 1. Good experience with other BA products 2. Ability to use one remote 3. Mostly positive reviews from others. Now I am struggling with reason #2 -- at initial installation, I wasn't able to program remote successfully (volume up = mute; channel up/down = input select) -- it was all very wacky despite repeated attempts. (My system is IMO pretty simple: Sony Bravia + DirecTV + BA TeeVee soundbar-- and all this in a small living room.) So: a stream of phone calls to support lines -- to BA, to Sony, to DirecTV. Conflicting advice from all three sources about how to program remote successfully, including being told by BA that this would not be possible with DirecTV because "their signal changes..."; that I would have to use two remotes. Argh. I spoke twice with BA, once with Sony, and (I think) twice with DirecTV. Finally I was able to reach a DTV person who assisted me in conquering the problem! Hallelujah! But woe is me, after about 10 days of successful problem-free operation, yesterday the DTV remote stopped working with the Soundbar. At all. So frustrating! I guess today the stream of phone calls will start again...if anyone out there has tips on how to set this up in a more permanent, problem free mode, *using only the universal remote* I would be so so grateful. Other than this trying situation, I find the soundbar has great sound for my small space, love the wireless feature, it's attractive, and purchasing from Amazon the price is reasonable. Thank you BA for all this, but please please work on the remote set up. I can't believe I'm the only DTV customer out there who faces this problem...please help us!

 "Sound Bar" 2010-01-11
By Robert M. Longueira (Savannah, GA)
Easy to use and set up sound bar and a great improvement over TV speakers. The only down side is no auto sound level adjustment for commericals or different channels.

Boston Acoustics TVee Powered Soundbar Speaker System with Wireless Subwoofer (Black)

The customer reviews posted at Amazon influenced my decision to buy this product. It took less than 10 minutes to connect my 46" Samsung HDTV to the TV and to plug in the wireless speaker. Programming the cable box's remote was equally easy.

Thanks to the advice given by another Samsung HDTV owner in this Amazon product review section, I bought an adapter ($5.00) at Radio Shack that enabled me to plug the red and white RCA jacks from the speaker into the TV's earphone outlet.

Now, (a) the TV's internal speakers are automatically muted, (b) when changing the TV's volume, the volume adjustment bar appears on the screen, and (c) when changing volume, the range of the cable box's remote from the speaker is not an issue.

The TV's sound is fantastic. My audio expectations were realistic however I did not expect the audio to be this good.

My congratulations to Boston Acoustics for bringing a product to a niche of the speaker market that not only meets but far exceeds expectations. Interestingly, this segment of the market is now experiencing fantastic growth. I conclude that there must be a lot of us who want better audio output from out HDTV at a reasonable price, with simple installation and elegant styling.

"Great Sound, Easy Set-up, Remote Learning Great!" 2009-12-29
By R. Miller (Maryland, United States)
This system works and sounds great....for the pricepoint. A lot of sound from a small source.

The greatest features are the learning remote....easy to learn, and worked great with my comcast cable remote, and the wireless sub-woofer sounds great. An ideal system for a smaller room, especially without the hastle of wires! Highly recommend. I had purchased the Sony Bravia soundbar system first, and returned it for an exchange for this system - the sound is much better, plus the remote features and wireless sub-woofer - it was a good choice. Great system, easy to use, good pricepoint for good sound!

"Great choice for bedroom TV" 2009-12-29
By AynRandLives (Cape Coral, FL USA)
I bought this because I have a small Sharp TV in my bedroom and I can hardly hear it even with the volume turned all the way up. Once I hooked this up, the sound just boomed. The subwoofer is next to my nightstand and gives a pleasant bottom to the sound pouring out of the soundbar. I have the TV volume turned all the way down and I can hear things now I could never hear before. Bravo for sound bars, and bravo for Boston Acoustics. And you can't beat it for Amazon's price!
