This is a great product but the dvd player makes noise when there is no dvd inside. Not sure if all of them do this or just this bc it was refurbished. Other than that it works great!

 "Great Buy" 2009-06-29
By J. Garcia (Bay Area, CA, USA)
I purchased this Item refurbished, and I am happy to say that I was very satisfied. To me it seems completely new, and runs great. No missing components or paper work. The system plays great, easy set up, and quick start up.

The speakers are good, and I was surprised by power of the sub. You can play music and movies from your iPod, along with viewing photos. They only thing is that you can't watch the movie through the HDMI output, only AV. Don't forget to set your iPod's movie setting output to TV, othewise you might not be able to see the movie from your iPod on your TV.

You don't have much option to manually control all aspects of sounds, but it does have good pre-sets. The wire length for the speakers are long enough to set up the surround speakers in a small room, but bigger rooms might require some additional length by splicing. I wasn't able to fully plug in the FM wire to its hub, so I used a little bit of electrical tape to keep it in place.

Overall, if your looking for something good to play your music and movies and don't want to worry about fine-toning everything, than this is a great buy. I am very happy with the purchase and I really enjoy my media now.

 "Very complete system" 2009-06-08
By Luis F. Yllarramendi (Venezuela)
I am almost 100% satisfied with this purchase. When I bought it I didn't check all the features it would have. I was looking for any home theater with panasonic's viera link to connect it with my TV and as soon as I saw the price of this one, I bought it. The price seemed like a bargain to me, only $270!. I just opened the box this weekend since I had to send it from Miami to Venezuela witch is where I live, and it only took 10 minutes of my time to set it up end enjoy it. The sound quality is great, no complains at all. The viera link works very good allowing one touch to control my tv, so I don't have to watch tv with two remotes any more. It has 5 trays for dvd-cd, also Ipod dock to connect your Ipod (it didn't work with Iphone), am-fm radio turner, wireless capacity for rear speakers in case you bought them. Bottom line, great purchase. The only con I've found so far is that the wire for rear speakers is not long enough to place it along the wall and then down to the level where your ears should be when you are watching tv and my livin room is not that big so the best would be to buy the wireless rear speakers. Other than that it's been a good purchase

Pros: Great sound quality, price, and easy set up

Cons: Not enough speaker wire for the rear speakers

"good unit for my pan tv" 2009-05-13
By J. Allen (Kern Co, CA)
I bought this refurb thru Amazon from Good As New Electronics.

Happy with price and service from GANE.

Unit works great and makes TV listening much better for my old ears.

Everything has worked great for a month until a few days ago, when the Viera link stopped fully working. After a couple of hours on the phone with tech service at Panasonic, reseting both the TV and HT a few times, it turned out to be the HDMI cable which had worked fine until now. Fortunately I had a couple of extras. One of three fit tighter than the other two--and worked again. All three HDMI cables were from eForcity, so go figure.

The cables for the rear surround were too short and I needed another 15 feet--what a stupid design! I did figure out how to open the speakers which have terminal lugs inside, and the pins in the molex connectors going into the main unit can be removed. but I opted to just cut the wires to the rear surround speakers and add 18 feet of 22awg speaker wire using common butt splices--works great. I don't think I would have liked the wireless version because of the additional pwoere requirement and potential interference problems.

I think the unit is well worth the price as a refurb, but gave it a 4 because of the rear speaker wire length (25') and lack of paint on one side of the subwoofer. I think more inputs like digital coax would be nice too.

I have not had any problems with the DVD player mechanism, but I do treat it with care because it seems a bit complex and delicate, but okay if you pay attention.
