"Great Sound, Menu Navigation a bit difficult." 2010-01-14
By Peter R. Grimaldi (Round Lake, IL)
I love the sound from this system. You cannot get better for the price. Menu navigation is a bit difficult, due to no on TV screen display, but it is very adjustable. the Auto-cal mike works great. I also purchased the Sony Digital media Port for iPod TDM-IP50. You will need that model for on screen navigation of you iPod. Very pleased with this setup overall.

"good ht for the price" 2010-01-13

I just received the sony htss-360 yesterday from amazon. It is a nice ht for the money. The main reason for writing this review is to tell people that i was able to program my comcast remote control to work the htss 360.That was a real surprise for me because as most of you know that's not always the case.My cable box is a motorola HD DUAL TURNER DVR MODEL DCH3416 the code i used is 31759. Other codes 30158 31758 comcast may have more codes.I hope this review helps because using one remote to control sound and change channels turn off and on is a big plus.

 "Great system for price" 2010-01-11

I upgraded from the Sony soundbar to this and am extremely happy. I actually paid less for this system than what I paid for the soundbar so I was kind of skeptical. I hooked my PS3 and DirectTV up and the sound is WAY better than I expected. I'm not sure what people are talking about when they say there isn't enough bass. I had to set the SW level at 0. My PS3, movie, and even TV experience has been awesome. I also bought a DMPort from sony (kind of pricey, $70) and am able to play my music from Pandora/Ipod on my Iphone 3g. Even through my Iphone the sound is very clear and loud. I think it sounds as clear as a Bose system (which my dad and father in law have). Besides, it's time for Bose to keep up with the technology curve and get multiple HDMI hookups. Anyways... The only con is that the user menu is tricky to navigate through. I set the auto calibration but found a better sound by setting the levels myself. Also, the Braivia sync causes a short delay in hearing the volume. When I hit power to turn everything on there is no audio for about 5 seconds. But it is nice to have to only hit one power button and use one remote for everything so I guess it's worth it. And I'm not sure if that delay is from my Bravia TV or the receiver.

Bottom line- you can't beat this system for the price.

Attack of the Show also did a review on this system which helped me decide:

 "HT-SS360" 2010-01-11
By Bob Clare (Riverside, CA)
Overall this is a nice system. I basically got it since a local store had a bundle with the SONY XBR9 TV, the BDP-360 and the HT-SS360 all for the price of the TV. Too good to pass up. Since everything is SONY, I expected no problems. In practice, that is true. The TV remote can easily control the HTIB volume. The blu-ray works nicely as well. I had some difficulties with the sound from my AT&T U-verse HD DVR. The sound kept dropping out on HD channels. After a lot of cable debugging, I finally discovered that using the optical link from the DVR to the HT-SS360 solved the problem, so it could be a problem with audio over HDMI, either with the HT-SS360 or the U-verse DVR.

I picked up (from Amazon) the Sony TDM-iP50 iPod port (which hooks up to the DMPORT input on the HT-SS360). NOTE: video is NOT sent over the DMPORT link! If you want video, you have to use the video cable (supplied with the TDM-IP50) and connect that directly with the TV. This is both for video on your iPod as well as for the (rudimentary) menu system that the TDM-iP50 supplies.

Overall, for the price, this is a very nice system! Note, however, that the remote that comes with it only works with the HT-SS360 and is not programmable.

"Great value, perfect home system" 2010-01-09
By M. Hewitt (Meridian, ID United States)
I went shopping for a new home theater system and blue ray player. I decided to keep them as separate components in case I wanted to upgrade either one of them down the road. I ended up with this sound system and the Sony BDP360 player which was cheaper than any decent combined system I could find. I ordered both through amazon as they were $140 cheaper than best buy. They both arrived in about 4 days.

Set up was a breeze and operation of both components is simple. Sony even provides a microphone to hook up and set where ever you plan to sit in the room. The system then automatically optimizes the level of each speaker's output to give you the best sound experience. Pretty cool.

In short, this theater system gets the job done extremely well. My den isn't that large and the sound this 5 channel system puts out is awesome. I also hooked it up to my satellite receiver (Dish Network) and now get surround sound on all of the HD channels where it is encoded. Even the news sounds great.

I've always loved Sony electronics and this purchased once again confirmed why. I definitely recommend it.
