HDTV is easy. Home-Theater sound systems used to be hard but Panasonic has made it easier than pie (ready-made pie). Blu-ray extends beyond HDTV in sound. HDTV has 5.1 channel ability but Blu-Ray offers 7.1 channels. The SC-BT300 boasts seven speakers to envelop viewers in a remarkably true-to-life surround sound experience. The front and center channel speakers are made with a bamboo diaphragm which provides a tightly intertwined fiber to deliver greater rigidity and accuracy, resulting in clear reproduction of sounds over a wide frequency range, from massive explosions to metallic clangs. The subwoofer features a Kelton system with a dual diameter structure to deliver a deep powerful bass. The Smart Set-up guide uses the help of GUI navigation to allow users to set up their SC-BT300 home-theater system for optimum performance. The result is being able to stay at home while enjoying a thrilling, incredibly lifelike audio performance that rivals a movie theater. The appeal of Panasonic Blu-ray products goes beyond the breathtaking pictures and sound; the networking functions open the door to new kinds of entertainment fun. The SC-BT300 can connect to the Internet for downloading bonus content available with Blu-ray Discs and for playing Internet games via BD-Live. This connectivity is further enhanced with the addition of VIERA-Cast. VIERA-Cast integrates the Amazon Video-on-Demand (VOD) online movie rental service. The Amazon VOD service joins other content options already available on VIERA-Cast, including videos from You Tube, access to online photos via Picasa Web Albums, financial information from Bloomberg News, as well as local weather updates. The possibilities are virtually endless. It comes with a Universal Dock for iPod, making it easy for iPod users to play their favorite music or video downloads. This system is also Green-friendly. It has a power-save mode to protect the green in your

 "Not too bad" 2010-01-21
By Mark E. Grothendick (Warrenville, IL)
I was really excited about this product, as it was my first home theater system. I've had it for about a month now and my feeling is...mediocre. I paid 376 for it on amazon which was about half the price of BB, however I feel like I'm left wondering how badly I needed it. The sound quality is really good. My biggest complaint is probably that I can never hear the back speakers unless I'm right next to them. I've turned them up all the way.

This system is indeed pretty slow when you are trying to change functions, so if you are an extremely impatient individual, don't get this one. My TV is a Panasonic Viera so whenever I turn that on, the home theater system automatically does as well which is nice.

 "Great Home theater" 2010-01-18
By J. Douglas
I got this system to replace an older Sony home theater 5.1 system and am very pleased with it. I combined it with a Panasonic Viera plasma TV set (TC-P54S1) and the two make a great combo! One controller can operate both units. The system was easy to set up and provides really good surround sound in the family room where it is set up. I don't have to crank the volume up too far so don't know how it would sound if I did. But I expect it would still be crisp and clear. It is a bit annoying when I first turn on the main unit as it has to "warm up" which can take a minute or so - I guess that not being an instant on reduces electrical consumption when not in use (Energy Star rating). But I'm getting used to it! Amazon offered the system at a great price and the delivery was prompt, even in the Christmas season. Like many hi-tech products today, the operating instructions are somewhat difficult to follow during setup. But the system works great and I would recommend it.

"amazing sound and picture quality" 2010-01-17
By Ryan D. Heitzman (Chehalis, wa USA)
I love this thing, it has amazing sound quality and the blue ray picture is stunning on my panasonic viera 65". the only worries i had were that a lot of reviews said it didn't have input hookups for other units to plug into it for surround sound, but with multiple optical in's it was enough to hook up the xbox 360 and dish network box. great unit for the price.

"Great Sounding Panasonic Sound System!" 2010-01-14
By H. E. Olson (Moscow, Idaho)
Panasonic SC-BT300 1250W 7.1 Channel Blu-ray Disc Home Theater Sound System

I purchased this Panasonic sound system to complement my Panasonic 50" plasma in my apartment a few weeks ago. So far the system is great! It has lots of special features, and has great sound quality. The system looks great, and is not bulky at all. It's perfect for any home, especially a small apartment.

The quality of the sound overall is great, especially for the price. Individual sounds can be heard much clearer, than my previous sound system from Wal-Mart. I noticed sounds I never heard before while watching the blu ray Increadible Hulk, a movie with 7.1 channels. When Dr. Bruce Banner is running from the American Military in the soda factory, he turns into the Hulk and whispers "leave me alone"--a line I never caught during previous viewings of this film.

Besides the obvious blu-ray feature, there's also an ipod doc (which I haven't tried yet) on the blu ray player, and an internet type feature that lets you view the weather status and watch youtube videos on your tv. You can also access the radio through the blu-ray player too. To access the special blu-ray features that require internet, a sd card with more than 1gb will need to be obtained separately.

One disadvantage to the system is that setting up the wires can be a hassle, however this is expected out of any stereo system that's not wireless. On the up side, the cords are white and therefore blends in with the wall much better than black ones. They also give you plenty of cord length on the speakers too. The wires are not initially connected to the speakers either, giving you an easier choice of putting each speaker on the wall without looking for the placement indications on each speaker or messing with the wires initially.

Another disadvantage is the high level of bass output on the system. Some people might like this, but I live in an apartment. However, the bass can be adjusted to a comfortable setting with some fiddling of the remote.

Overall, I give the system five stars. The system sounds great, looks great, and is a good value price. I really appreciate the extra features that came with the system. I am extremely satisfied with this product, and would recommend it to any of my friends.
